It's unique in Apple history - if not absolutely all of consumer computing history - for the same version of the OS to provide two distinct interfaces that are so markedly different, based solely which hardware the OS is running. From a developer standpoint, iOS 11 is one OS with various different sizes (SE, regular, Plus, X, iPad, iPad Pro) and layouts. From a user perspective, though, the OS" is how you interact with the system. Again, it's as though there are two very different versions of iOS 11 - and I cannot stop thinking about how exactly weird that is.
