Sleep can increase your mood. With insufficient sleep people become agitated and form a poor mood that follows every one of them day. Another great benefit is sleep helps control body mass issues by governing the hormones that affect and control appetite. That's the only reason I need for getting enough sleep.
If you're lucky to have a supportive partner around you'll know that most father's only get 2 week paternity leave. Whilst your companion is on paternity leave they are able to take turns in comforting on the baby at night (albeit not feeding if you're nursing), this allows you to catch up on sleep. I don't have family nearby and thus personally the greatest fear with my first was my hubby finding comfort work.
