This is about as messy and unintuitive as it gets, but it's not too far off of the mainstream. I possibly could buy a nice group of Bluetooth headphones that also support corded audio tracks for watching movies on planes and basically be covered, but I will not get some of Apple's improvements to the wireless experience unless I buy a Beats Solo3 with the W1 in it.
It's unique in Apple history - if not absolutely all of consumer computing history - for the same version of the OS to provide two distinct interfaces that are so markedly different, based solely which hardware the OS is running. From a developer standpoint, iOS 11 is one OS with various different sizes (SE, regular, Plus, X, iPad, iPad Pro) and layouts. From a user perspective, though, the OS" is how you interact with the system. Again, it's as if there are two completely different versions of iOS 11 - and I cannot stop thinking about how weird that is.
On the energy side, Apple's got the lead in "multi-core" performance, even though it's using only two cores at anybody time, and other processors can have considerably more. That's where Apple's lead in "single core" is valuable to see, almost doubling that of competing processors. Astonishingly, A10 even trounces the current MacBook Air, and is comparable to the 2013 MACBOOK-PRO. , both which run Intel 64-bit core duo processors. And it ties in the pocket of your skinny jeans.
